Dear RoboCuppers, We have created a consolidated Q&A document with a summary of the questions of the two digital sessions with Ubbo, the president of the RoboCup Federation, a group of Trustees and several RC members. Nominations are solicited for the 2026 ACM SIGAI Autonomous Agents Research Award. This award is made for excellence in research in the area of autonomous agents. It is intended to recognize researchers in autonomous agents whose current work is an important influence on the field. The award is an official ACM award, funded by an endowment created by ACM SIGAI from the proceeds of previous Autonomous Agents conferences. Birk, "In-Presence, Take-Home, and Online Education: The State of Equipment Use and Practices in Robotics Labs and Other Hands-On Activities," IEEE Access, vol. 13, pp. 171984-171997, 2025. https://doi.org/10.1109/access.2025.3614055 Findings include: * Simulation is the most popular form of regularly used equipment. * 24% of the instructors do not regularly use robot hardware in labs. * Data-sets are particularly popular as occasionally used element. * In-presence use is the predominant access form for robot hardware * Among the alternatives to in-presence access, take-home hardware is clearly more popular than online, i.e., remote access to robots. During this RoboCup, we Trustees decided to re-imaging RoboCup and we shared this vision with the committees and the community in various forms during RoboCup. And while there was time for discussion in different settings and groups, we also saw how many open questions there still were during the Symposium. Some may have already been clarified with your league committees in the meantime - many of these committees worked tirelessly since RoboCup to meet with the teams, share updates and gather league opinions. However, the robotics industry is entering new challenges due to the emergence of innovative and intelligent robots designed for a wide range of applications. In particular, we are increasingly seeing the need for embodied AI agents that are able to engage, support and assist people with different needs, preferences and expectations across various aspects of life. To this extent, we want to invite students, young researchers and more experienced groups to participate in robot software and design competitions that will match today’s increasing demands. There are three categories: * Robot design Competition, where teams of students, young researchers can show their design innovative ideas * @HOME Competition, where teams of young and more experienced researchers can apply advanced techniques for solving real-world problems in a competition format. * @HOME Hackathon, where teams of students and young researchers can develop social behaviours for HRI in a hackathon format. The @HOME Competition will be organised in two days: 1. A set-up day on 10/09 will serve for teams to test and adjust their solutions 2. A competition day on 11/09 where teams will show their robotic solutions. The Robot design Competition will take place on the last day - 12th September 2025. The Hackathon will be organised in two days: 1. A Workshop on 10/09 morning for illustrating the basic functionalities of the robot platforms and how to program them 2. Guided development on 10/09 afternoon with instructors following the teams in the development of some baseline tasks 3. Competition day on 11/09, where teams will develop their solutions and then show them for evaluation. For each category, we will select the winners. The winners of the challenges will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on September the 12th, 2025. Submissions Each submission should have a (maximum) 2-page summary. The template is flexible; however, it should include a concise abstract/synopsis of a maximum of 50 words, and enough details to judge the technical novelty of the proposed solution and/or innovative applications of robots. A single link of related video can be included. Video link is optional, and the maximum duration of the video should be 3 minutes. Please remember that it is not a scientific publication, but the description of a robotics innovation with potential to be developed as a project. Competition chairs, with the help from experts and reviewers, will select the finalists. Each finalist is supposed to register and present their entry at a dedicated session in the conference, which will be further evaluated by the Jury of peers. Re-Imagining RoboCup

Dear RoboCuppers, RoboCup has been a uniquely enduring and inspiring force in robotics and AI since its inception. For almost three decades, it has grown through the self-motivation, passion, and remarkable  dedication of you, its participants. This spirit has made RoboCup the world’s largest and most influential robotics competition. Today, we stand at a pivotal moment. The field of robotics and AI is advancing at an unprecedented pace. The emergence of a new generation of robots, AI methods, and technologies is a unique  historical opportunity. RoboCup takes this opportunity to continue to lead. Therefore, we enact changes to the RoboCup international competitions, which is our window to the world. We unite all the advancements from all soccer leagues into one united umbrella focused on humanoid robot soccer. We push the state of the art in robotics and AI by introducing  humanoid robots for general-purpose applications, including the @home, work, and rescue leagues. Let’s write the next chapter of RoboCup together! Standard Platform League and Humanoid KidSize League  The SPL and Humanoid League KidSize divisions begin an immediate merger process aiming to form a unified league by 2026 (name to be decided). Teams from across all soccer leagues will be invited to join and shape this process.  2. Small Size League, Middle Size League, and Soccer Simulation Leagues  2027 will be the final year of the international competition for the SSL, MSL, and the soccer simulation leagues, as long as we have sufficient participation. We look forward to transitioning all the scientific advancements from these leagues to humanoid robot soccer.  We welcome proposals from the community to re-imagine how these leagues may  contribute as a bridge to encourage participants from the Junior leagues to continue on with the Major leagues.  3. RoboCupRescue Simulation League The 2025 competition is the final year for RoboCupRescue Simulation as an independent league at the International event. Teams are encouraged to engage with the Rescue Robot League to explore merger concepts and combined evaluation frameworks.  4. RoboCup@Home A single, unified RoboCup@Home league takes effect immediately. The 2025 competition is the last to feature two separate sub-leagues.  5. RoboCupIndustrial The @Work and Logistics sub-leagues will create a new Smart Manufacturing League (SML), merging for the 2026 and 2027 competitions to better address emerging autonomous production and logistics challenges.

There are local events smaller than regional "open" competitions, which should also be run with regional committee participation, but must be approved by the board of trustees. For each such local event and open, regional committees may at some time in the future be asked to collect a standard RoboCup Federation registration fee from participants and send the resulting funds to the federation (details to be announced if/when this policy goes into effect). The regional committee is also expected to send a report following each event summarizing the participation and organization of the event, including how many people and teams participated, from where, etc. If there are many local events in a given year, they can be grouped together into a single annual report. Each regional committee should have a single chair who serves as the main point of contact with the RoboCup Board of Trustees for questions that are relevant to the region. There should be representation on the committee from all of the different RoboCup leagues in which your region is active (including RoboCupJunior). If not already established, we encourage the regional committees to initiate formation of all aspects of RoboCup activities, including RoboCupSoccer, RoboCupRescue, RoboCupJunior, and RoboCupAtHome. To form a committee, please get together with all of the participants from your region. Once the list of committee members is prepared, please contact the RoboCup Trustees to let us know: 1) The members and affiliations of the committee. 2) The names, affiliations, and email addresses of all the teams represented by the committee (hopefully all the teams from your region). 3) The URL of your current webpage, if it already exists (see http://www.robocup.org/organization-of-robocup/regional-committees/(http://… for some examples). The Trustees will then check that all the represented teams agree to be represented in this way, and then link the committee to the RoboCup website. The representatives of all RoboCup Regional Committees meet at least once a year during the annual RoboCup event to discuss with the Trustees about the development of RoboCup in their regions and in general. Furthermore, while vacancies exist in the Board of Trustees, one appointment is reserved for election by the regional committees (one vote per regional committee).
