The ICRA 2023 Organizing Committee invites proposals for competitions to
be held during the 2023 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and
Automation in the ExCeL exhibition and international convention centre
in London, UK, May 29th-June 2nd 2023.
https://www.icra2023.org/programme/call-competition-proposals
The competitions provide a unique venue for state-of-the-art technical
demonstrations from research labs throughout academia and industry.
Conference attendees and media representatives will have the opportunity
to experience live demonstrations of robotic technology via these
competitions.
Competition proposals must include the following information:
- A brief description of the competition, including what particular
task is under evaluation and why the competition is of interest to the
ICRA community.
- A draft of the rules and assessment.
- Number of competition days and planned time schedule.
- A list of possible participant teams, including an estimate of the
total number of participants.
- Awards planning, estimated budget and funding source (if any)
supporting the competition.
- Request for the Organizing Committee for facilities including
required space (area in square meters and minimum height) along with
power, networking, furniture, audiovisual media, and other requirements.
- Safety considerations.
- History of the competition, if applicable.
- Names, contact information, and brief CVs of the competition
organizers, describing experience in organizing previous competitions,
workshops, etc.
All submissions will undergo a review process within the Organizing
Committee. Acceptance decisions will be based upon the potential
significance, sustainability in future ICRA meetings, space and
logistical requirements.
All the submissions must be made through PaperPlaza

Participation in AI by groups that are underrepresented in computer science
is a fraction of what is needed to have an AI workforce that reflects
diversity in society. Diversity has many facets, including race, ethnicity,
gender, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, socioeconomic
status, and cultural background.
We invite submissions of proposals for activities that help broaden
participation in the AI field. Activities can range from meetings for
specific groups to panels, workshops to discuss the current situation and
to propose changes, reports on outreach activities, and more. Example
topics and activities include new open research questions that affect
diversity in AI, mentoring activities for students from underrepresented
groups, community-building for young researchers (graduate students and
postdocs), activities to expose undergraduates to research or K-12 students
to AI, and reports on successes at increasing and sustaining diversity.
Proposals should be short (2 pages, in pdf) and should address the
following:
1.
What activity is proposed and its specific objectives?
2.
Who will be the chair of the activity?
3.
What is the target audience (e.g., academics, industry, graduate
students, undergraduate students)?
4.
What is the expected number of participants?
5.
Duration of the proposed activity (e.g., 1/2 day, 1 day, 2 hours).
6.
Will the activity be by invitation only or will it involve an open call
for participation/registration/submission? What is the expected timeline
(including submission deadline and notification)?
7.
Funding needed (if any) and potential sources of funding.
8.
Volunteer support needed (if any). Specify how many, for how long, and
for what (e.g. “two volunteers, for 0.5 hr, to distribute materials”, or
“two volunteers, for 0.5 hr at opening and closing, to rearrange seating
into discussion groups”).
For More Information
Inquiries concerning submissions and suggestions for diversity and
inclusion activities may be directed to the diversity and inclusion
cochairs at aaai23dichairs(a)aaai.org. All other inquiries should be directed
to AAAI at aaai23(a)aaai.org.
