Dear roboticists and AI researchers, we are pleased to present the call for expressions of interest in the Robot Exhibition of the 32nd International Joint Conference on Artificial Intelligence (August 19–25, 2023, Macao, S.A.R). IJCAI23 will be a premier international gathering of researchers in AI, and the Robot Exhibition will run alongside the IJCAI23 combined technical program (https://ijcai-23.org/call-for-robot-exhibition/). Robots are a central focus of AI research and development, providing preeminent examples where cognitive skills (e.g., in perception, decision-making, control) are necessary to cope with complex tasks, and both naturalistic and controlled environments. On the one hand, developing intelligent robot systems involves challenging open research questions in AI. On the other hand, established AI methods are gaining increasing interest and applicability in various domains (e.g., industries, services, space) that involve robots alongside humans. This exhibition offers a prime space for exhibiting both achieved results and new opportunities for the development and use of AI in Robotics in the real world to a large audience of professional AI researchers from academia and industry. The exhibition seeks to involve both academic and industrial groups interested in the combination of AI and Robotics. The exhibition will thus provide an outstanding opportunity for universities, research organizations, and companies to showcase their research on the world stage. We invite expressions of interest for demonstrations of robotic systems, software, and tools that exploit AI methods and technologies, and that would be of interest to the broad AI community. Expressions of interest should include: A one-page description (in IJCAI format) of: ○ the proposing group/company, ○ the robotic technology to be demonstrated, ○ the relevance of this technology to AI. A video of up to two minutes demonstrating the system in action; the video should be at most 100MB, in mp4 format. Please include your title and authorship info in the opening of the video. I have a RoboCup Federation-funded project to study the impact that participation in RoboCupJunior competitions had on participating students. We have witnessed the impact it has on the Junior teams for many years. However, what proves the impact of RoboCupJunior as of today is anecdotal accounts mainly from the observations by RoboCupJunior organizers, team mentors, and teachers and the stories shared by RoboCupJunior participants. This project will provide scientific evidence of the impacts that RoboCupJunior has had on participating students. Many educational robotics competitions have run similar studies to measure the impacts that their events have on their participants. However, it is rare to study the participants after they left the competitions to study longitudinal impacts. Research has also shown the potential of such technologies as convenient instruments for the personalization of teaching strategies to the learning styles of each student, proposing appropriate feedback and adapted levels of difficulty in a wider set of learning activities. Such kind of tailoring might become a new, particularly helpful resource to meet the demands of students with special needs. The development and the adoption of such interfaces in educational scenarios relies on new pedagogies and new didactics co-designed in an interdisciplinary effort involving engineers, psychologists, cognitive scientists, educators, students, and families. Call for Participation 2023 Summer School on AI Technologies for Trust, Interoperability, Autonomy and Resilience in Industry 4.0 [ [ https://ai4industry2023.sciencesconf.org/ | https://ai4industry2023.sciencesconf.org/ ] ] July 24-28, 2023 − St-Étienne (France), São Paulo (Brazil), and Online We invite PhD students, academics, and researcher staff from academia and industry to apply to the 3rd Summer School on AI Technologies for Trust, Interoperability, Autonomy and Resilience in Industry 4.0 (henceforth AI4Industry). The summer school aims to teach the state of the art of the use of AI technologies and models to tackle the challenges of data revolution and to increase automation of cognitive tasks to develop a trustful and resilient Industry 4.0 (or Industry of the Future). The summer school is organized around concrete industry problems structured as use cases. These use cases aim to stimulate the discussion at the academic institutions toward addressing real-world problems and to showcase innovative solutions to industrial partners. During the summer school, participants attend lectures of AI technologies and carry out practical exercises dedicated to applying these technologies to solve concrete industry problems. Target Audience and Eligibility We welcome applications from PhD students, academics, and researchers from academia and industry that have already some knowledge in at least one of the topics above, who want to broaden their perspective and wants have a chance to apply their skills on concrete problems. We also welcome researchers who want to get in touch with a new research community and industry partners who want to get updated on recent advances in AI. To broaden the reach of the Summer School, we accept the participation on site (Saint-Étienne, France or São Paulo, Brazil) or Online. We limit the number of participants on site in Saint-Étienne to 30 people and on site in São Paulo to 28 people. Online participation is unlimited, as long as applicants meet the eligibility criteria (see Target Audience and Eligibility section). Participation Fee There is NO FEE for Online participation or those participating on site in São Paulo (Brazil). For those participating on site in Saint-Étienne (France), the participation fee is 150€. The fee covers: * Accommodation * Lunch, coffee breaks and snacks * Summer school materials, including diploma Thanks to our sponsors, some partial and full financial support will be awarded. If you need a partial (i.e., registration fee waiver) or full (i.e., travel + registration fee waiver) financial support, please send us a motivation letter together with your application, and we will consider your request in the limit of our budget.
