Dear RoboCuppers, We invite submissions to the workshop *“Shared Challenges in Human-Centered and Resilient Robotic Autonomy <https://sites.google.com/cs.miami.edu/scr-icra26/call-for-contributions>”*, to be held in conjunction with *ICRA 2026*. Robots are increasingly expected to operate various complex environments such as homes, factories, and disaster environments. While these domains differ in context and constraints, they share fundamental challenges such as robust autonomy in dynamic and uncertain settings, natural interaction with non-expert users, perception in cluttered or degraded environments, and reliable manipulation of diverse objects. Recent advances in AI and learning create new opportunities for adaptation and cross-domain transfer, while safety, ethics, and benchmarking remain central concerns for responsible deployment. This workshop brings together researchers from *domestic service robotics, smart manufacturing, and disaster response* to discuss cross-cutting challenges, transferable solutions, and unifying principles for resilient, human-centered robotic systems. *Topics of Interest (including but not limited to)* - Human–Robot Interaction and communication with non-expert users - Navigation, perception, and mapping in dynamic, unstructured, or degraded environments - Mobile manipulation and grasping in real-world contexts - Learning and adaptation for cross-domain transfer and task planning under uncertainty - Safety, ethics, and evaluation frameworks for long-term robust autonomy We especially encourage contributions reflecting on the transferability of skills and systems between different areas of robotics and contributions that reflect on *societal needs and implications* of deploying robotic systems in real-world settings such as homes, clinics, factories, and disaster sites. Papers may include short work-in-progress and position papers (2–4 pages) as well as long-format integration and experimental papers (4–8 pages). Each submission will undergo independent review by at least two reviewers. All submissions will be considered for both oral presentations and poster sessions. Extension of Participation Confirmation Deadline

Dear Teams, We are writing to inform you that, as we have been informed of issues regarding information on shipping costs for the robots, the participation confirmation period has been extended until the 27th of February 2026. Teams that have already confirmed their participation but find that they need to withdraw due to unexpected issues with shipping costs may do so without penalty until the 27th of February as well. We hope this extension provides additional flexibility as you finalize your arrangements. A further extension, however, will be difficult, as we will need to know the number of teams we can assign a spot in the 2nd Call by the extended date. Dear all, We hereby publish the Second Call for Participation for RoboCup@Home 2026, which will take place from June 30 to July 6, 2026 in Incheon, South Korea. RoboCup is an international scientific initiative with the goal to advance the state of the art of intelligent robots through competitions (RoboCup@Home, RoboCup Soccer, RoboCup Rescue, RoboCup@Work and RoboCup Junior). The RoboCup@Home league aims to develop service and assistive robot technology with high relevance for future personal domestic applications. It is the largest international annual competition for autonomous service robots and is part of the RoboCup initiative. A set of benchmark tests is used to evaluate the robots’ abilities and performance in a realistic home environment setting. Focus lies on the following domains but is not limited to: Human-Robot-Interaction and Cooperation, Navigation and Mapping in dynamic environments, Computer Vision and Object Recognition under natural light conditions, Object Manipulation, Adaptive Behaviors, Behavior Integration, Ambient Intelligence, Standardization and System Integration. RoboCup is an international scientific initiative with the goal to advance the state of the art of intelligent robots through competitions (RoboCup@Home, RoboCup Soccer, RoboCup Rescue, RoboCup@Work and RoboCup Junior). The RoboCup@Home league aims to develop service and assistive robot technology with high relevance for future personal domestic applications. It is the largest international annual competition for autonomous service robots and is part of the RoboCup initiative. However, the robotics industry is entering new challenges due to the emergence of innovative and intelligent robots designed for a wide range of applications. In particular, we are increasingly seeing the need for embodied AI agents that are able to engage, support and assist people with different needs, preferences and expectations across various aspects of life. To this extent, we want to invite students, young researchers and more experienced groups to participate in robot software and design competitions that will match today’s increasing demands. There are three categories: * Robot design Competition, where teams of students, young researchers can show their design innovative ideas * @HOME Competition, where teams of young and more experienced researchers can apply advanced techniques for solving real-world problems in a competition format. * @HOME Hackathon, where teams of students and young researchers can develop social behaviours for HRI in a hackathon format. The @HOME Competition will be organised in two days: 1. A set-up day on 10/09 will serve for teams to test and adjust their solutions 2. A competition day on 11/09 where teams will show their robotic solutions. The Robot design Competition will take place on the last day - 12th September 2025. The winners of the challenges will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on September the 12th, 2025. Submissions Each submission should have a (maximum) 2-page summary. The template is flexible; however, it should include a concise abstract/synopsis of a maximum of 50 words, and enough details to judge the technical novelty of the proposed solution and/or innovative applications of robots. A single link of related video can be included. Video link is optional, and the maximum duration of the video should be 3 minutes. Please remember that it is not a scientific publication, but the description of a robotics innovation with potential to be developed as a project. However, the robotics industry is entering new challenges due to the emergence of innovative and intelligent robots designed for a wide range of applications. In particular, we are increasingly seeing the need for embodied AI agents that are able to engage, support and assist people with different needs, preferences and expectations across various aspects of life. To this extent, we want to invite students, young researchers and more experienced groups to participate in robot software and design competitions that will match today’s increasing demands. There are three categories: * Robot design Competition, where teams of students, young researchers can show their design innovative ideas * @HOME Competition, where teams of young and more experienced researchers can apply advanced techniques for solving real-world problems in a competition format. * @HOME Hackathon, where teams of students and young researchers can develop social behaviours for HRI in a hackathon format. The Competitions will be organised in two days: 1. A set-up day on 10/09 will serve for teams to test and adjust their solutions 2. A competition day on 11/09 where teams will show their robotic solutions. The Hackathon will be organised in two days: 1. A Workshop on 10/09 morning for illustrating the basic functionalities of the robot platforms and how to program them 2. Guided development on 10/09 afternoon with instructors following the teams in the development of some baseline tasks 3. Competition day on 11/09, where teams will develop their solutions and then show them for evaluation. For each category, we will select the winners. The winners of the challenges will be announced during the Closing Ceremony on September the 12th, 2025. Submissions Each submission should have a (maximum) 2-page summary. The template is flexible; however, it should include a concise abstract/synopsis of a maximum of 50 words, and enough details to judge the technical novelty of the proposed solution and/or innovative applications of robots. A single link of related video can be included. Video link is optional, and the maximum duration of the video should be 3 minutes. Please remember that it is not a scientific publication, but the description of a robotics innovation with potential to be developed as a project. Competition chairs, with the help from experts and reviewers, will select the finalists. Each finalist is supposed to register and present their entry at a dedicated session in the conference, which will be further evaluated by the Jury of peers. This workshop seeks to enhance the reporting standards within real-world autonomous robotics research and propel the field toward more structured research practices.

Dear @Home RoboCup Team, I hope this message finds you well. After careful consideration and thorough discussions, the RoboCup Federation Board of Trustees has decided to discontinue the SSPL @Home RoboCup League. Starting at RoboCup 2025 in Brazil, we will only host DSPL and OPL league competitions within the @Home. Over the past few years, we have observed a consistent decrease in the number of participating teams in the SSPL. Despite efforts to encourage participation and promote the league, the declining interest has made it challenging to maintain the level of competition and innovation that the RoboCup community expects. However, we want to reassure current SSPL teams that they are still welcome to apply for participation in the Open Platform League (OPL). The same rules and scoring criteria that apply to OPL teams will be applied to SSPL teams who transition. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and continue to contribute to the @Home RoboCup League in this capacity. We understand that this may come as disappointing news to those who have dedicated time and effort to the SSPL. We deeply appreciate the contributions of all teams, mentors, and supporters who have been part of this journey. Your commitment has helped shape the SSPL into what it is today, and we recognize the impact it has had on the broader @Home RoboCup League. However, designing these robots can be complex as it involves considering a wide range of factors (e.g., individual needs, physical environment, technology capabilities, digital literacy), stakeholders (e.g., care recipients, formal and informal caregivers, technology developers), and contexts (e.g., hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient care facilities, private homes). The challenges are in gaining design insights for this unique use case and translating this knowledge into actionable, generalizable guidelines for other designers. This one-day workshop seeks to bring together researchers with diverse expertise and experience across academia, healthcare, and industry, spanning perspectives from multiple disciplines, including design, robotics, and human-computer interaction, with the primary goal being a consensus on best practices for generating and operationalizing design knowledge for robotic systems for care settings. The workshop structure will include keynote speakers, author presentations, a panel, and small/large group discussions. Our primary goal is to encourage interaction and discussion among interdisciplinary researchers. With our panel, we aim to capitalize on Denmark's many initiatives for robots in healthcare to bring a variety of experts from the industry to help enrich and guide our discussions and takeaways. The workshop will be in-person only, held at DIS’24 in Copenhagen, Denmark. — TARGET AUDIENCE: Our workshop welcomes participants from various sectors, with a primary focus on: * Core research community members surrounding robotic systems for care settings. * Members of related fields, e.g., the broader accessibility and aging research communities. * Members from the industry seeking to deploy/market robotic systems for care. * Researchers or community members who may have an active personal interest in the topic. — THEMES: Participation in our workshop is open to all, and while submissions are not required, they are highly encouraged. We invite contributions in the following areas: * Design Outcomes: We invite contributions that scrutinize the multifaceted design aspects of robotic care systems. Discussions should revolve around the efficacy of various design outcomes, exploring the potential to standardize these for broader applicability. Submissions may address questions such as: What constitutes a meaningful outcome of a design study? How can we extend these findings to benefit the wider research and design community? * Stakeholder Involvement: Care assistance is a collective effort, engaging numerous participants from care recipients to caregivers and beyond. We seek insights into effective stakeholder integration within the design process. Queries might include: How do we strategically involve stakeholders? What are the advantages of multi-stakeholder vs. single-stakeholder sessions in the design process? * Design Methodologies: This theme encourages a critical examination of the methodologies employed in designing robotic care systems. We welcome debates on the merits and drawbacks of various approaches, such as surveys, participatory design, and lab studies. Contributions should consider: Which methodologies are suited for which contexts? How can we address common critiques of these methods? * Reflections on Design Experiences: The practical experiences of researchers offer invaluable lessons. This theme is dedicated to sharing those lessons that fall outside the conventional academic narrative but are crucial for informing future design studies. We invite reflections on: What strategies have proven successful? Which aspects of the design process could be improved? — SUBMISSIONS: Authors are invited to submit short papers of 2-4 pages describing extended abstracts, work in progress, preliminary findings, position papers, methodology papers, blue skies papers, etc. related to any of the topics above. Our aims are: - to build a sustainable community of students and researchers in the area of Artificial Intelligence for Robotics. - to foster intercultural student collaboration within and outside the Americas - to make cutting-edge scientific topics accessible to everyone. The Summer School will provide a clear overview of Robotics, while also providing an in-depth analysis of state-of-the-art research in the areas of Cognitive Robotics, Soft Robotics, and Robot Vision, and in the application areas of Agricultural Robotics, and Robotics for Mining.
