Dear colleagues, We are pleased to announce the opening of the call for contributions to the 2024 edition of the Workshop on Humanoid Soccer Robots (WHSR) , which will be held over a full day during IEEE Humanoids 2024 ( [ https://2024.ieee-humanoids.org/ | https://2024.ieee-humanoids.org/ ] ), Nancy, France Playing soccer is a challenging task and an ideal testbed for humanoid robotics, fostering many multidisciplinary research. The topics range from prototyping new humanoid robots with a robust bipedal locomotion to high level strategy decision making. Full details are available on the website : [ https://whsr-2024.github.io/ | https://whsr-2024.github.io/ ] The workshop will include presentations by two guest speakers: Antonin Raffin from the German Aerospace Center (DLR), who developed Stable-Baselines3, and Rémi Cadene from Hugging Face. Topics Humanoid robots prototyping, Motion planning and control, Perception, Localization, Bipedal locomotion, 3D simulation of humanoid robots, Team coordination, Skill and strategy learning, Dynamic motions, Heterogeneous humanoid robots, Autonomous decisions, Machine learning for robotics Submission instructions Authors are invited to submit full-length extended abstract (up to 2 pages) written in English, and formatted using the IEEE templates. They can present ongoing work, recent results and future directions. Papers accepted by Humanoids 2024 may also be submitted. Dear SPL Teams, Code Release by October 15 This is a reminder that teams who participated in RoboCup 2024 need to publish and announce this at robocup-nao(a)lists.robocup.org<mailto:robocup-nao@lists.robocup.org> by October 15, 2024. Teams who are developing fully open source also need to make the announcement. For reference, see the section A.7 from the rulebook. Challenge Code Release Teams who participated in the Shared Autonomous Challenge also need to release code developed for the human-operated robot (both robot code and interface code). Clarification on Publishing Competition Data Sets

Hello SPL Teams, We, the exec, would like to provide clarity on teams publishing data sets that have been collected at competition, such as, data sets containing audio/video logged from robots during competition games. In consultation with the Trustees, we are able to advise that teams are able to publish such data sets. The data sets may include recordings of participants and audience. Competition participants during registration, and public visitors when purchasing ticket, consent that they may be recorded, and consent that such recordings made available through team materials. In publishing data sets, we would encourage teams to consider taking additional steps such as: * Processing and curating the data set for potential inappropriate content, which could include: * Screening of sound to remove inadvertent identifying (or embarrassing) audio. * Blurring faces of people in videos, especially children. * Providing a mechanism by which people could request to be removed from the data set.
