LACORO 2024 - 3rd Latin American Summer School on Robotics Rancagua (Chile) in person, 9-13 December 2024 https://www.lacoro.org <https://lmmartiner-dot-yamm-track.appspot.com/2hgSuKaB8QIi37Yh08knBkBfe3VVY…> We are excited to announce the 3rd Latin American Summer School on Robotics (LACORO), which aims at making cutting-edge knowledge on Artificial Intelligence for Robotics Applications accessible in the Southern Hemisphere. Our aims are: - to build a sustainable community of students and researchers in the area of Artificial Intelligence for Robotics. - to foster intercultural student collaboration within and outside the Americas - to make cutting-edge scientific topics accessible to everyone. The Summer School will provide a clear overview of Robotics, while also providing an in-depth analysis of state-of-the-art research in the areas of Cognitive Robotics, Soft Robotics, and Robot Vision, and in the application areas of Agricultural Robotics, and Robotics for Mining. The Summer School will have presentations by renowned international speakers, including the following confirmed speakers: - Angelo Cangelosi, University of Manchester, UK - Josei Hughes, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland - Karinne Ramirez-Amaro, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden - Javier Ruíz-Del-Solar, Universidad de Chile, Chile - Miguel Torres Torriti, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Chile - Karon MacLean, University of British Columbia, Canada - Josh Pinskier, CSIRO Robotics, Australia - Javier Preciozzi, Universidad de la República & DigitalSense, Uruguay - J. Matias Di Martino, Universidad Católica del Uruguay, Uruguay and Duke University, USA Format: LACORO will include cutting-edge lectures and tutorials on Artificial Intelligence and Robotics. Moreover, we will host tutorial and mentoring sessions for both scientific topics and other aspects of the academic research world. Date and Location: LACORO will be held in-person from the 9th to 13th of December, 2024 at the Universidad de O’Higgins (UOH), Rancagua, Chile. We would like to highlight that there are limited spots for this event. They will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis as registrations are completed. Future of SSPL@Home Leaugue

Dear @Home RoboCup Team, I hope this message finds you well. After careful consideration and thorough discussions, the RoboCup Federation Board of Trustees has decided to discontinue the SSPL @Home RoboCup League. Starting at RoboCup 2025 in Brazil, we will only host DSPL and OPL league competitions within the @Home. Over the past few years, we have observed a consistent decrease in the number of participating teams in the SSPL. Despite efforts to encourage participation and promote the league, the declining interest has made it challenging to maintain the level of competition and innovation that the RoboCup community expects. However, we want to reassure current SSPL teams that they are still welcome to apply for participation in the Open Platform League (OPL). The same rules and scoring criteria that apply to OPL teams will be applied to SSPL teams who transition. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity and continue to contribute to the @Home RoboCup League in this capacity. We understand that this may come as disappointing news to those who have dedicated time and effort to the SSPL. We deeply appreciate the contributions of all teams, mentors, and supporters who have been part of this journey. Your commitment has helped shape the SSPL into what it is today, and we recognize the impact it has had on the broader @Home RoboCup League. Moving forward, we encourage teams to explore the open platform opportunities that may align with their interests and expertise. We believe that this restructuring will allow us to focus resources on areas with stronger participation, ultimately fostering a more vibrant and competitive environment for all.
