It aims to promote research and development that enables the use of innovative mobile robots with advanced manipulators for cutting-edge industrial applications. Such applications include complex tasks ranging from manufacturing, automation, and parts handling to general logistics, as well as interaction with human workers. The RoboCup at Work league is characterized by an industrial environment. This consists of manipulation objects including nuts and bolts, arena elements such as shelves, bins, and platforms of different sizes, and networked automation devices like conveyor belts and drilling machines. The actual competition tasks to be performed in the environment are defined in a set of so-called tests. Each test addresses various mobile manipulation capabilities such as grasping, transportation, precision placement, and visual serving. The complete rules of RoboCup@Work as well as further technical details are (will be) posted on the RoboCup@Work website (https://atwork.robocup.org). Participation in the Competition All teams that intend to participate in the competition have to perform the following steps: 1. Submission of qualification materials including a Team Description Paper and a video of their robot performance. Details are below. 2. Final registration (qualified teams only) Qualification The qualification process serves a dual purpose: It should allow the Technical Committee (aka TC) to assess the safety of the robots a team intends to bring to the competition, and it should allow ranking teams according to a set of evaluation criteria in order to select the most promising teams for a competition, if not all interested teams can be permitted. The evaluation criteria will include: - Team description paper - Relevant scientific contributions/publications - The professional quality of the robot and software - Novelty of approach - Relevance to industry - Performance in previous competitions - Contribution to RoboCup at Work league, e.g. by Organization of events and/or provision and sharing of knowledge - The quality of the robot's performance of a task (selected by the team) shown in a video - Team website Team Description Paper The Team Description Paper (TDP) is a central element of the qualification process and has to be provided by each team as part of the qualification process. Beginner Team asking for Help

Hi! My name is Otávio Leite, I am a Computer Science undergraduate student in Federal University of Uberlândia, in Brazil. I am the captain of the Roboforge Robotics team, and we have participated regularly for a few years now in the CBR/LARC (Brazilian Robotics Competition / Latin American Robotics Competition: https://cbr.robocup.org.br). My team is very interested in getting to know more about the @Work league, and we would like to ask if there is a communication channel that teams are using for now! I've checked the discord link in the official website, but it seems to be invalid right now... Can I get some help with that? I'm also interested on watching the 2024 competition through the youtube live streams at the RoboCup Live channel, but it seems that it doesn't have a stream dedicated do @Work league. As a matter of fact the video that we uploaded for qualification was produced with our old robot and our new robot platform were not ready yet in that time. Now our new robot is ready and we prepared a new video of our robots functions and abilities which is available down below. On the other hand we also checked our website and realized that our domain is expired and is not reachable till our "Norouz" vacation is over. In many of the leagues, there were neither rules nor infrastructure to support remote competitions. We knew that it was risky, but we also suspected that the RoboCup community would rise to the challenge. Now that the event has concluded, I am pleased to report that RoboCup 2021 was an unmitigated success! Every single league held a successful competition of some sort, and we had more than 2,000 registered participants - a similar number to our usual in-person attendance. I feel like I've said this so many times to so many people over the past few days. But I also don't think it can be said enough. So once more, Thank you! We couldn't have done it without you: the members of the event organizing committee, the executive committee, the technical committees, the organizing committees, and indeed all of the participants! No matter where your team finished in the league rankings, RoboCup couldn't have without your participation. I hope and trust that you've also gained something from the experience, both intellectually and personally. Tuesday 22nd through Monday 28th June 2021 RoboCup at Work: Competing for the Factory of the Future RoboCup at Work is a league and competition in RoboCup that targets the use of robots in work-related, industrial scenarios. It aims to foster research and development that enables the use of innovative mobile robots equipped with advanced manipulators for current and future industrial applications, where robots cooperate with human workers for complex tasks ranging from manufacturing, automation, and parts handling up to general logistics. The RoboCup at Work league is characterized by an industrial appealing environment composed of industrial objects such as screws and nuts, shelves, containers, platforms of various sizes, and networked automation devices such as conveyor belts, drilling machines, and others. The actual competition tasks to be performed in the environment are defined in a set of so-called tests. Each test addresses various mobile manipulation capabilities such as grasping, transportation, precision placement, and visual servoing. Participation in the Competition All teams that intend to participate in the competition have to perform the following steps: 1. Technical Challenges in the Virtual RoboCup2021

Hi everyone, the TC committee is currently developing the rulebook for the 2021 robocup for achieving a good and fair competition for all teams. Due to a stricter timetable at the competition, because of the fact that teams are in different time zones, the TC would like to ask if any team wants to participate in the technical challenges. Currently there are two Technical Challenges defined in the rulebook: - Pick from Drawer Test - Cluttered Pick Test Please contact the TC if you want to participate at the Technical Challenges and/or want to introduce a new technical challenge until next friday 12am GMT+1 (19.02.2021). If requested, also a video based challenge would be doable (record video previously and submit). Dear RoboCup@Work, As discussed in the online team leaders meeting yesterday, we should form our TC/OC committee immediately. Dear RoboCup@Work Teams, Happy New Year! We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a great and healthy 2021. It is now confirmed that RoboCup 2021 in Bordeaux has been canceled. The RoboCup Federation has informed us that there will not be a physical RoboCup 2021, but there will be a virtual RoboCup 2021! Although we feel very unfortunate that we will not be able to gather with our Robots in 2021, we are very excited about the virtual event. In fact, we are confident that we will have a successful competition as we have already held a virtual event during vRCAP 2021. We are counting on every team to come together and help make it a remarkable event. The preliminary plan is to hold the competition within every team's arena (lab) where the robot's performance is broadcasted with at least two cameras. Prior to each round, the participating team will explain the task that the robot will be completing. The points are awarded based on the initial presentation and the robot's actual performance. We plan to run the competition in three days with two runs per day. The above is just a draft plan, details and confirmed settings will be reflected in the league's rulebook soon. Before we decide about the arena details, we need to know how many teams are planning to participate and their available space and arena materials. Dear all, I'm sorry to send the information about RoboCup Asia Pacific 2020. Pre-Registration is already opened. Of course I think the COVID-19 will become big affect to this event. The committee including local organizing committee will discuss the postpone. But the meeting date is about June. Dear RoboCup@Work Teams, We are pleased to announce the qualified teams for the RoboCup@Work league of RoboCup 2020! It was great news for our community to see a number of new teams joining our league. The qualification process this year was very difficult given the increase in the number of teams and also trying to make room for new teams to join our league. Therefore, please read the following details very carefully. We decided to qualify teams in two categories: 1) Qualified 2) Conditionally Qualified The qualified teams will receive the registration code shortly and can proceed with registering their team for RoboCup 2020! The conditionally qualified teams will have to send an additional qualification video showing that their robot is able to autonomously navigate an arena. Dear Teams! I hope that your preparations are going well! Please note that the Refbox has been updated based on the rules changes. You can test the latest version from the Github source ( https://github.com/industrial-robotics/atwork_central_factory_hub) The heights for 5cm, 10cm, and 15cm stations will be a little different in Sydney as the organizers were unable to provide the exact heights. However, the variations will still be within the ranges defined in the rulebook. There will be some minor variations in the walls heights and widths as well but these should not pose any problem for the teams. The TCs and OCs wish everyone luck and see you all soon in Sydney!! I made a change to the RuleBook in 2017, after seeing the Toyota HSR in RoboCup Japan as part of the RoboCup@Home TC/OC. https://github.com/robocup-at-work/rulebook/pull/23 At the time, I did a quick search for "off-the-shelf" robots which were available, and found: 1. Fetch Robotics: Fetch 2. Toyota HSR 3. PAL Robotics TIAGo 4. Robotnik RB-1 DISCLOSURE: at the time of changing the rules, I did not work for any of these companies, now I do, which is how I've ranked the list. Another platform, which is too large for robocup@work, is the Kinova Movo, but worth mentioning because it's dual arm, and has a tone of space for adding/upgrading computers. The rule change was discussed at the time, that we were preemptively just selecting a larger size constraint, to prevent losing any interested teams, but that the rules could be updated in the future if needed to. The main limitation now, is that all of the existing teams which have YouBots, which have very restricted arm range, and therefore the shelves and platform heights will continue to be small until they're changed over. Hi Robocup@Work people, I’m considering to start a new team in the RoboCupIndustrial league, either Logistics or @Work. I read that the Kuka YouBot was discontinued a while ago. ----------------------------------------------------- Call for Applications for Participation RoboCup 2018 - RoboCup at Work http://robocup2018.org/ Montreal, Canada Saturday 16th through Friday 22nd June 2018 RoboCup at Work: Competing for the Factory of the Future ----------------------------------------------------- RoboCup at Work is a league and competition in RoboCup that targets the use of robots in work-related, industrial scenarios. It aims to foster research and development that enables use of innovative mobile robots equipped with advanced manipulators for current and future industrial applications, where robots cooperate with human workers for complex tasks ranging from manufacturing, automation, and parts handling up to general logistics. The RoboCup at Work league is characterized by an industrial appealing environment composed of industrial objects such as screws and nuts, shelfs, containers, platforms of various sizes and networked automation devices such as conveyor belts, drilling machines and others. The actual competition tasks to be performed in the environment are defined in a set of so-called tests. Each test addresses various mobile manipulation capabilities such as grasping, transportation, precision placement and visual servoing. The full rules of RoboCup at Work as well as further technical details are posted on the RoboCup at Work website. Participation in the Competition -------------------------------- All teams that intend to participate at the competition have to perform the following steps: 1.) Submission of qualification material, including a team description paper and possibly additional material like videos or drawings 2.) Final registration (qualified teams only) Qualification ------------- The qualification process serves a dual purpose: It should allow the Technical Committee to assess the safety of the robots a team intent to bring to a competition, and it should allow to rank teams according to a set of evaluation criteria in order to select the most promising teams for a competition, if not all interested teams can be permitted. The TC will select the qualified teams according to the qualification material provided by the teams. The evaluation criteria will include: - Team description paper - Relevant scientific contribution/publications - Professional quality of robot and software - Novelty of approach - Relevance to industry - Performance in previous competitions - Contribution to RoboCup at Work league, e.g. by -- Organization of events -- Provision and sharing of knowledge - Team web site Team Description Paper ---------------------- The Team Description Paper (TDP) is a central element of the qualification process and has to be provided by each team as part of the qualification process. The TDP should at least contain the following information in the author/title section of the paper: - Name of the team (title) - Team members (authors), including the team leader - Link to the team web site - Contact information - The body of the TDP should contain information on the following: -- focus of research/research interest -- description of the hardware, including an image of the robot(s) -- description of the software, esp. the functional and software architectures -- innovative technology (if any) -- reusability of the system or parts thereof -- applicability and relevance to industrial tasks -- usage of components (software or hardware) developed by other RoboCup at Work teams The team description paper should cover in detail the technical and scientific approach, while the team web site should be designed for a broader audience. Both the web site and the TDP have to be written in English. Participation in the Competition -------------------------------- All teams that intend to participate at the competition have to perform the following steps: 1.) Submission of qualification material, including a team description paper and possibly additional material like videos or drawings 2.) Final registration (qualified teams only) Qualification ------------- The qualification process serves a dual purpose: It should allow the Technical Committee to assess the safety of the robots a team intent to bring to a competition, and it should allow to rank teams according to a set of evaluation criteria in order to select the most promising teams for a competition, if not all interested teams can be permitted. The TC will select the qualified teams according to the qualification material provided by the teams. The evaluation criteria will include: - Team description paper - Relevant scientific contribution/publications - Professional quality of robot and software - Novelty of approach - Relevance to industry - Performance in previous competitions - Contribution to RoboCup@Work league, e.g. by -- Organization of events -- Provision and sharing of knowledge - Team web site Team Description Paper ---------------------- The Team Description Paper (TDP) is a central element of the qualification process and has to be provided by each team as part of the qualification process. The TDP should at least contain the following information in the author/title section of the paper: - Name of the team (title) - Team members (authors), including the team leader - Link to the team web site - Contact information - The body of the TDP should contain information on the following: -- focus of research/research interest -- description of the hardware, including an image of the robot(s) -- description of the software, esp. the functional and software architectures -- innovative technology (if any) -- reusability of the system or parts thereof -- applicability and relevance to industrial tasks -- usage of components (software or hardware) developed by other RoboCup@Work teams The team description paper should cover in detail the technical and scientific approach, while the team web site should be designed for a broader audience. Both the web site and the TDP have to be written in English. Submission and Evaluation ------------------------- All applications with the qualification material must be submitted by February 15th, 2017, by email to rc-work-tc(a)lists.robocup.org. Applications must not be sent to personal RoboCup@Work TC/OC email addresses and must not contain video attachments. Qualification decisions will be announced by February 28th, 2017. Last year, we had 272 teams from Afghanistan, Canada, China, Germany, Iran, South Korea, Peru, UK, and USA. RoboCup IranOpen is an attempt to further promote AI and Robotics research.
