[RC-Humanoid League Virtual Season] Workshops and next games

Dear Robocuppers, The first round of games for RC-HL virtual season just ended. We streamed the last game of the Round Robin phase last Sunday (20 March). We will now enter in the Quarterfinals, which they will be streamed on April 3rd starting at 10am (CEST time). The Semi-Final and Final will be streamed on April 17th from the joint event German Open Replacement Event (GORE) organised by SPL and Humanoid League which takes place in Hamburg (Germany) from 12.04. to 17.04.22. At the end of the games, RC-HL virtual season organisers will hold a three days event on April 28-30, 2022 focused on exploring the sim2real transfer topic. It will be a great opportunity for both exploring future collaborations between different leagues, and sharing knowledge and experiences of applying realistic computational resources and scenario to the virtual competition, and the other way around. The organizers of a satellite event are free to propose events between 2 and 8 hours in length to be held during or a day after the RoboCup Symposium (17 or 18 July) in a fully virtual, hybrid, or fully local format. [RC-Humanoid League Virtual Season] Call for Workshop proposals on sim2real transfer

Dear RoboCuppers, The Technical and Virtual Organising committees of the Humanoid League invite proposals for Workshops that will be held as part of the Humanoid League Virtual Season on April, 28-30, 2022. The event will be fully online and free of attendance. The theme of this three-days event is sim2real transfer. In particular, we want to teams the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences of applying realistic computational resources and scenario to the virtual competition, and the other way around. A second aim is too have a specific roundtable to talk about possible ideas for collaboration between the 3Dsim and the Humanoid League. However, inputs and contributions from different leagues are valuable and appreciated. The event will be organised through different time-zones to allow the participations from all over the world. Detailed schedule of the event will be posted on the website of the Humanoid League email and social media. α-Release of ROS2 RCSS3D Agent from ROS Sports

Hi 3D Soccer Simulation Teams, This is Kenji from ROS Sports, we are pleased to announce that a ROS2 agent interface to the RoboCup 3D Soccer Simulator <https://rcss3d-agent.readthedocs.io/en/latest/> is now in an alpha release stage! [image: :partying_face:] The motivation behind the ROS2 interface for the Rcss3d Agent is to ease the entry-barrier for the 3d simulation league, and allow the simulator to be reused for other leagues in RoboCup. GIFs are worth a thousand words. It's this easy to interact with an agent in the simulator! [image: image.png] *Sending velocity commands to the head joints* [image: image.png] *Reading the Force Sensors on the feet and the Accelerometer* The rcss3d_agent <https://github.com/ros-sports/rcss3d_agent> package provides: - A general ROS2 library that handles the network connection and parsing/packing of data into the format that the simulator understands (s-expressions) - A basic node that provides a ROS2 pub/sub interface to the library For 3D simulation teams, the basic node is probably all you need. Teams from other leagues such as the humanoid league or SPL, can use the general library to implement their own pub/sub layer to convert the simulator-specific msgs to their own msgs of choice. *Why should you use this package *over continuing to use your own implementation? - *Reduce codebase size and maintenance cost**. Who doesn't like reducing the maintenance cost of their codebase?* - *Encourages contributions to outside the 3d simulation league domain. ** For example, why can't an inverse kinematics library developed in 3d-sim be reused in all Nao applications?* We are actively looking for teams to work with and test out the packages.
