RoboCup 2019 updated Refbox and some arena changes
Dear Teams!
I hope that your preparations are going well!
Please note that the Refbox has been updated based on the rules changes. You can test the latest version from the Github source ( https://github.com/industrial-robotics/atwork_central_factory_hub)
The heights for 5cm, 10cm, and 15cm stations will be a little different in Sydney as the organizers were unable to provide the exact heights. However, the variations will still be within the ranges defined in the rulebook. There will be some minor variations in the walls heights and widths as well but these should not pose any problem for the teams.
The TCs and OCs wish everyone luck and see you all soon in Sydney!!
Best Regards, Asad
Hi Teams,
Attaching the platform details which we received from the arena builders. As you can see there are 3 major changes; First the heights are different , Second the stand of the platforms are inside the top, Third, there is a platform at height 220cm. This will have major impact on you navigation, so please have a detailed look.
Also I have attached the arena layout. Please do review the layout.
It would be ideal to run this years competition completely on WiFi 5Ghz network. We will be deploying some tools to monitor and control the bandwidth usage. So I would request all the teams to eliminate their WiFi hardware problems.
Finally, I am creating a WatzApp group of all the team leaders for easy communication; to join the group please mail me your phone number.
Wishing you all a happy journey to Sydney.
Regards, OC team

220 cm? Or 220mm?

Hi Everyone,
thanks for sharing the information. I am pretty concerned regarding the heights. In the Rulebook we have fixed table heights in the description of the individual tests (Page 48). Additionally, the rulebook contains a paragraph on different and dynamic workstation heights starting in 2020. According to these we have an unusable 23cm table a lot of 15cm tables and something between a 5 and a 10cm table (we need to find out which it is).
At least for our Team the 23cm table is not manipulatable. On the other Hand I think it should not be too hard for the organizers to cut the tables. Why don't we ask them to provide at least tables with a maximum height of approx. 17-18 cm. I think 20% deviation of the original height should be tolerable, but 23cm is nearly 50% off.
The notice is probably to short for most teams to change anything in their hardware setup. Consequently, I think we should aim for something according to the rules.
Best regards,
Christoph (robOTTO)
