There is an open position for a PhD student or postdoc in the robotics group [1] at Constructor University, Bremen, Germany [2]. The position is within a research project on multi-object-tracking with lidar and radar in extreme conditions, especially overtaking maneuvers during autonomous driving at high velocities [3]. The project is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG).
The position features the special opportunity to work with the full-sized, fully autonomous race-car of Constructor University [3]. This includes the option to participate in races on Formula-1 tracks. While F1-level performance of autonomous driving may look at first glance like an entertainment spectacle, it is a serious academic endeavor that offers the unique opportunity to gather data where sensors and methods are pushed to their limits - and occasionally beyond.
