We are looking for submissions of papers reporting innovative and original research with relevance to areas of robotics and artificial intelligence. A full list of topics welcomed to this year's symposium can be found below. Within the described scope of topics, we also encourage submissions of high-quality overview articles, papers describing real-world research, and papers reporting theoretical results. Researchers are invited to submit their work independently of whether they participate in the RoboCup competitions or have a RoboCup team. The symposium is planned to be held in person in Bordeaux, France. However, a hybrid version will be evaluated in case circumstances should require it. In addition to the *regular track* with regular research papers, the *development track* encourages reports on innovative hardware developments, software frameworks, and open-source releases of software components. Procedure --------------------------------------- The Humanoid Research Demonstration will take place in one or several sessions and participating teams are asked to show a demonstration of the system live in Bordeaux or stream their demonstration from their lab during the session. As a back-up solution, each team needs to provide a video demonstration prior to the beginning of the tournament. If the demonstration is performed in Bordeaux, the Humanoid League will provide a humanoid league soccer playing field for the demonstration. However, the members of the Technical Committee of the Humanoid League understand that for some demonstrations this setup may not be ideal and will try to accommodate all teams. If a team requires other arrangements for the demonstration, it must submit a request to the Technical Committee at least 3 months before the competition to allow sufficient time for alternative arrangements. Application --------------------------------------- We invite teams to apply to participate in the Humanoid Research Demonstration by submitting the following material: Demonstration Data * Demonstration title; * URL of the group’s home page; * Name of the contact person; * E-mail address of the contact person; * Postal address of the contact person. Demonstration Video The first part of the material is a video of your robot or robotic part demonstrating its skills or a brief overview of the software demonstration if your demonstration does not involve a physical embodiment. The video must be supplied as a link to it via YouTube. The maximum duration of the video is 3 minutes. The proponent is responsible to ensure that the video adheres to YouTube’s TOS (especially in regard to music copyright) to prevent the video from being blocked for the reviewers. Hardware Specification If the demonstration includes any type of hardware to be showcased, a one-page specification (PDF) for each different type of humanoid type robot/mechanism used that includes the following: * Robot/mechanism picture; * Robot/mechanism name; * Size of the humanoid type robot/mechanism; * Weight of the robot/mechanism; * Robots/mechanisms joint specification; * Type of sensors used (incl. type of camera(s)); * Computing unit(s); * Other specifications Short paper A short paper describing the robot, robot part of software and its task and required environment, limited to four (4) pages including text, references, tables, and figures. The short paper must follow the LNCS format which can be downloaded from http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-6-793341-0. Please pay special attention to the “Author guidelines” that you’ll be able to find there. Plagiarism ======================================= Plagiarism, loosely the unattributed use of other peoples' words, code, and ideas is not tolerated in the RoboCup community. See the point “Publishing Ethics” at https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-gu… for a more detailed description. The teams and team members that plagiarize other peoples' work and present it as their own will be disqualified. For a first offense, the team and team members will be banned from RoboCup competition for two years (usually the current and next year). Harsher penalties will be applied to repeat offenders or extremely serious cases of plagiarism. A team may be disqualified at any time for plagiarism, even after the competition has started. RoboCup will not reimburse teams for any expenses related to their disqualification. BahiaRT Gym: an open-source customized Open AI Gym Environment for RoboCup Soccer Simulation 3D

Hi, We announce the release of BahiaRT Gym: an open-source customized Gym environment for RCSSSERVER3D. This implementation is independent of our team code and can be used by any team. It supports both single-agent and multiple-agent training using a Proxy architecture. It is fully compatible with stable-baselines3 and gym API. It is licensed as open software and can be used by the community. Contributions are welcome in form of issues reporting and pull requests to enhance or fix bugs on the tool. Dear RoboCuppers, The Humanoid League is organising the event "Open Humanoid Competition" as part of the Symposium Satellite Events on 14 July 2022, 19:00-21:00 (local time) Bangkok, Thailand. This satellite event is meant to be a discussion group during which we will foster discussions between members of different Leagues, trustees, members of the Technical and Organising Committees to tackle some fundamental requirements to facilitate new teams to join or participate in the games of the Humanoid League. Such increasing scientific difficulties have been catching the attention and interest of researchers, but, at the same time, make it prohibitive for new and, in consequence, often less experienced teams to join the Humanoid League. The main difficulties faced by new teams are related both to the cost of taller robots, and the challenges of developing hardware and software for such taller robots. We also expect that such costs for research, components and equipment for one or a full team of humanoid robots may soon become inapproachable for new teams. For these reasons, in this satellite event for the 25th RoboCup International Symposium, we want to focus on addressing the challenges and development of the creation an initial process or a sub-event to the Humanoid League main competition that can ease the path for new teams and to guide them towards a final full participation. This year, we are inviting the submission of poster proposals to facilitate scientific discussions about ongoing projects and late-breaking results during the RoboCup 2022 Symposium. This call is specifically for poster presentations to showcase teams’ ongoing work and/or the latest results relevant to the RoboCup community. The Symposium Program Co-Chairs would like to promote exciting conversations during the coffee break over posters, discussing scientific results, finding other research groups with similar interests, and strengthening connections between different teams as well as RoboCup leagues. Any team, research group, or individual is welcome to propose a poster presentation with the content relevant to the RoboCup community. RC-HL virtual season organisers will hold a three days event on April 28-30, 2022 focused on exploring the sim2real transfer topic. It will be a great opportunity for both exploring future collaborations between different leagues, and sharing knowledge and experiences on techniques and approaches in simulated environments. Each workshop will be of half hour, and we welcome proposals for discussion groups, tutorials or interactive activities. We will now enter in the Quarterfinals, which they will be streamed on April 3rd starting at 10am (CEST time). [RC-Humanoid League Virtual Season] Call for Workshop proposals on sim2real transfer

Dear RoboCuppers, The Technical and Virtual Organising committees of the Humanoid League invite proposals for Workshops that will be held as part of the Humanoid League Virtual Season on April, 28-30, 2022. The event will be fully online and free of attendance. The theme of this three-days event is sim2real transfer. In particular, we want to teams the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences of applying realistic computational resources and scenario to the virtual competition, and the other way around. A second aim is too have a specific roundtable to talk about possible ideas for collaboration between the 3Dsim and the Humanoid League. However, inputs and contributions from different leagues are valuable and appreciated. The event will be organised through different time-zones to allow the participations from all over the world. Satellite events will not be included in the RoboCup Symposium proceedings. Proposals should be formatted following the LNAI author guidelines [0] and must be electronically submitted through the EasyChair electronic submission system [1]. Please follow the LaTeX template created by us by either downloading the template file [2] or by creating a private copy of this Overleaf template [3]. Submissions are limited to a 4-page extended abstract, excluding references. Each submission must include the following sections: * Name of the satellite event * A description of the format (e.g., discussion group, workshop, tutorial, invited talks, ...) and intended length of the event * Prefered date and time of the event (17 or 18; morning or afternoon, or the whole day [no lunch will be provided unless it’s on the 17th]) * A description of the content and aim of the satellite event * Names and contacts of all members of the organizing committee/group with one clearly marked person as the corresponding member of the organizing committee * The intended audience and the number of participants expected * Any resources required to organize the workshop After the acceptance of their proposal, organizers are expected to create a short description of their event as well as a website providing further information which will both be linked from the RoboCup symposium page on the RoboCup 2022 website. Teams from other leagues such as the humanoid league or SPL, can use the general library to implement their own pub/sub layer to convert the simulator-specific msgs to their own msgs of choice. *Why should you use this package *over continuing to use your own implementation? - *Reduce codebase size and maintenance cost**. Who doesn't like reducing the maintenance cost of their codebase?* - *Encourages contributions to outside the 3d simulation league domain. ** For example, why can't an inverse kinematics library developed in 3d-sim be reused in all Nao applications?* We are actively looking for teams to work with and test out the packages. Research Project Learning Setplays from Demonstration - Call for Contributions

Hi, We have been working in the last years on a project in our lab named "Learning Setplays from Demonstration." The main goal of this project is to provide evidence that we can catch human's intuitive knowledge in a domain and use it to feed a massive dataset for robots to learn how to cooperate to solve problems in this domain. At this time, we are gathering contributions worldwide to populate the dataset. So we ask your contribution in the following way: 1- Watch some robot soccer games 2- Locate situations where you think you can demonstrate a setplay for a team to perform better in that situation 3-Create your demonstration 4- Send us several demonstrations To turn it easier for you, we have developed the BahiaRT's Learning Setplays from Demonstration Toolkit that encapsulates in Docker containers all tools you need to watch games and create setplays demonstrations. Also, up to six slots will be assigned in priority to new teams. In RoboCup 2022, up to 24 teams will participate in the 3D Soccer Simulation competition. The top three teams from RoboCup 2021 (UT Austin Villa, magmaOffenburg, Apollo3D) are automatically qualified after submitting an appropriate Team Description Paper (TDP). The other 21 teams will be selected through a qualification process. The qualification deadline is the 28th of February 2022. Qualification material consists of: 1. Team Description Paper (TDP) The TDP should describe your research focus and ideas implemented in the team. It should clearly describe your own work and your contributions in addition to explicitly specifying what you have used from others’ efforts (including, but not limited to, any source code released by other teams or their scientific work). In qualification, teams must be judged based on their own work, so failing to acknowledge the work of others could result in immediate disqualification. The length of the TDP must be at least four (4) pages and should not exceed twelve (12) pages in Springer LNCS Style. <https://www.springer.com/gp/computer-science/lncs/conference-proceedings-gu…> Please submit the TDP only as a PDF document, with the name of your team in the filename, i.e. Teamname_TDP.pdf . 2. A List of Publications and Achievements on previous RoboCup Symposia and in other relevant international journals and conferences. Please do not include TDPs that you submitted to RoboCup in previous years. Please also include your team’s achievements in RoboCup and related events of previous years. If you are new to the RoboCup 3D community, you may also include references to relevant research done by your team that shows its potential. Please submit the contribution list as a PDF document, with the name of your team in the filename, i.e. Teamname_list.pdf . 3. Binary All teams should submit a working binary of their team. The OC will use these binaries to play 11 vs 11 matches, under the rules and with the simulator used during the 2021 competitions <https://ssim.robocup.org/3d-simulation/3d-rules/>. Submitted binaries should adhere to the following: – Two scripts should be included: a startup script, called start.sh, to run a full team of agents, and a kill script, called kill.sh, to fully kill all agents of the team. The requirements and examples of these scripts can be found on the rules page <https://ssim.robocup.org/3d-simulation/3d-rules/>. – All necessary external libraries should be included and be used locally by the binary. The OC will not make an effort to install extra libraries on the qualification systems. A Java runtime can be assumed to be available. – The binaries should not create any output, be it through standard output or to files and no graphical (debugging) interface should be used. – The binary should be compiled for 64 bit systems and should work on a modern GNU/Linux distribution, such as Ubuntu 18.04. You may also send 32-bit binaries, but it is your responsibility to make sure that it runs correctly on 64-bit distributions. You can assume that basic 32-bit libraries (e.g. libc) are installed on the 64 bit OS. To summarize: the binary should run out of the box on a standard, clean, headless system in a restricted sandbox environment with the simulation server (possibly) running on a different machine. The OC will not try to fix errors. When a binary fails to run, the respective team will be notified and will have to resubmit their material, before the deadline. Please put all qualification material in a folder with your team name, create a tarball named teamname.tar.gz and upload it to the registration form <https://forms.gle/2Yonrwyjjig9H3pi7>. You should upload only one file including all your qualification materials. If everything works fine, you will receive a confirmation. If you did not receive any confirmation within two (2) days, please contact the Organizing Committee <https://ssim.robocup.org/3d-simulation/3d-committees#OC>. Teams will be qualified based on the submitted materials as described in this CfP. The following general qualification limitations will also be considered: – One-Third-Rule: The so-called One-Third-Rule rule states that only up to 1/3 of the participants in a competition may be from the same country. – One-Team-Per-Institute-Rule: The One-Team-Per-Institute-Rule states that only one team from each university or research institute is allowed to participate in a competition.
