[News] survey results for hands-on robotics teaching
Dear all,
many thanks to all who participated in the survey about hands-on teaching in robotics, i.e., labs, projects, theses. The results are now published (open access):
A. Birk, "In-Presence, Take-Home, and Online Education: The State of Equipment Use and Practices in Robotics Labs and Other Hands-On Activities," IEEE Access, vol. 13, pp. 171984-171997, 2025. https://doi.org/10.1109/access.2025.3614055
Findings include:
* Simulation is the most popular form of regularly used equipment. * 24% of the instructors do not regularly use robot hardware in labs. * Data-sets are particularly popular as occasionally used element. * In-presence use is the predominant access form for robot hardware * Among the alternatives to in-presence access, take-home hardware is clearly more popular than online, i.e., remote access to robots.
Many thanks again & kind regards, Andreas
