For the joint, interdisciplinary BMBF-funded competence network “Meaningful Human Control. Autonomous Systems between Regulation and Reflexivity” (MeHuCo), we are looking to recruit, as of 1 April 2022,

A PostDoc / Doctoral Researcher (m/f/d) (100%), Computer Science, Robotics, or similar at Ostfalia University, Pay group TV-L 13, for a period of four years (fixed-term contract).

The project addresses one of the most serious problems of international security – the development and application of autonomous systems and the possible loss of control due to Artificial Intelligence algorithms. In the project a team of researchers at the Paderborn University (Media Studies/Sience and Technology Studies), the University of Bonn (Media Studies/History), the University of Hamburg (Sociology/Criminology), the University of Hannover (Law) and the University of Applied Sciences Ostfalia (Computer Science/Robotics) will work together with an extended network of international partners in Germany and Europe.

Your responsibilities include: • Carrying out the research activities in accordance with the approval, in particular in the work package: "Humanoid soccer robots - a lead scenario for investigating possibilities and limits in the programming and control of machine autonomy" • Publication of project results and presentation of research results at international conferences • Reporting to project partners and BMBF • Support of the project management

Applicants should meet the following requirements: • Doctorate or master's degree with a strong research focus in the broader field of robotics (e.g. computer science / electrical engineering) • Good knowledge of human-robot interaction • Creativity • Experience with interdisciplinary work • Team skills • English language capabilities and German language capabilities (or serious interest to acquire them)
