Hello everybody,
With RoboCup 2026 in the rearview mirror I'd like to look back at all the performances and collect feedback so we can keep improving and make RoboCup 2027 in Nuremberg a great experience for everyone.
To start, at this year's RoboCup it really felt like one big @Home community. I think we are at our best when we are competitive, care about the results and our robot's performances, and get excited for every single point, while not forgetting that a big part of RoboCup is sharing our progress, helping others, and being considerate. My feeling is that this year we found a great balance and I want to thank all of you for making that possible.

You can also find some statistics about the competition here: https://johaq.github.io/robocup-home-redesign/stats.html If you are interested in something more specific or would like data on something that is not displayed here, let me know and I'll see if we have that data collected. I would also like to remind you that as we transition the website I want to have as much of the historic RoboCup @Home data intact as possible along with the correct team information. I have already received some feedback which I will add shortly. But I am still missing: -Participation data for RoboCup before 2013 -Participation and results for any Mexican Opens -Participation and results for German Open before 2014 -Participation and results for Japan Open before 2018 If you have info on these, please let me know.
We also created a form for feedback this year: https://forms.gle/7Bj4Zj3qtpEvPd96A I really encourage you to take some time and fill out this form. This also applies to teams that did not participate in RoboCup this year. If you participated in one of the local opens you can still give us feedback on the tests and if you have not competed this year you can still give us general feedback. In the TC we are always looking to make more informed changes to the rules but it is just not possible to have every team perspective be heard in every meeting. We are also trying to make the process and discussions in the TC transparent to everyone. We also set up a site: https://adobe.ly/4pGx3tp I think it would be great if you could upload some of your photos and videos from the event to share with everyone.
I know that soon, if you haven't already, you will start to tinker with your robot again. I wish you success in improving your robot in the upcoming year and I hope to see all of you put on even better performances next year. I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage each of you to use the contacts you made this year. Maybe have your team visit another team at their university, invite teams to your lab, visit people, ask for internships, find co-authors for your papers, find advisors for your thesis, meet up at conferences.
The community exists all year round and not just for one week.
