Dear MSL teams,
In follow-up to the MSL workshop in Toulon earlier this year, the Technical Committee has developed a roadmap for the MSL rulebook. It is available on the website: https://msl.robocup.org/roadmap
During the workshop, many participants agreed with the observation that the MSL has stagnated in its development. Games played now are not always better or more interesting than several years ago. While there are many ideas on how to move the league forward, the difference in team maturity means that it is not always feasible to announce new rules in December/January and play with those changes in July.
The roadmap aims to announce bigger rule updates further in advance, such that all teams can schedule the work in the way they want. At the same time, it moves the research in the league forward while still allowing people to find their own research focus.
